The project will investigate the connection between different wind conditions and Aeromine energy production in built-up environments. DTU will perform flow modelling for different building types with roof-mounted Aeromines and from these derive siting tools that can be used to estimate the annual energy production and optimize the Aeromine placement.
This report outlines the proposed measurement setup for validating the performance of the Aeromine wind energy converter in controlled yet realistic wind conditions, known as “The Rooftops Experiment.” The report details the experiment's design, including background information on the Aeromine’s mechanics, theoretical wind conditions on rooftops, and adaptations necessary for accurate power performance measurement. The work is funded by the Danish Energy Agency as part of a project aimed at exploring rooftops as an untapped source of wind energy.
