Aeromine

City:
Los Angeles

Year founded: 2020

Total funding: $3.2 million

What it does: Aeromine produces rooftop devices for capturing wind energy.

Why it's hot: Many companies are looking for ways to generate on-site renewable electricity to reduce their carbon footprints and find relief from high energy costs.

Aeromine said its systems, which mount to the edge of flat-roof buildings like warehouses and data centers, generate up to 50% more power than other sustainable-energy options that cost the same or less.

The main challenge it faces: It said the largest challenge had been keeping up with demand, with 6,000 customer requests in the three months after its public launch in November.
